Eindhoven, The Netherlands - Optical storage innovator Lite-On announces today the introduction of their 12X Blu-ray Disc COMBO drive. Users can bring High Definition to their home theater or mini PC with the unique iHES212; a fusion of an exceptional Blu-ray player and convenient DVD/CD burner.

With its exclusive airflow system and the short length the iHES212 is the ideal drive for any small PC. It brings an unequaled high-definition Blu-ray movie experience with smooth 12X playback, and ultralow noise operation. Users can benefit from the drive’s advanced DVD/CD burner function, which includes Lite-On’s SMART technology for reliable disc burns every time.

The iHES212 writes to all common DVD and CD formats: DVD±R at 16X, DVD±R DL at 8X, DVD+RW at 8X, DVD-RW 6X, CD-R at 48X and CD-RW at 24X. The drive utilizes LightScribe technology to engrave grayscale labels on any LightScribe compatible disc.

With its small dimensions, only 17cm in length, the drive is especially created for easy installation into smaller sized cases and shorter drive bays. Its unique airflow design not only makes the drive whisper quiet, and reduces vibration, but also ensures that the drive stays cooler even in confined spaces.

“Since the very beginning Lite-On has been present in the Blu-ray market with various Blu-ray Disc writer, a BD-ROM and BD-COMBO”, says Maarten Souren, Marketing Manager at Lite-On. The iHES212 will be available from May 2011 for a suggested end-user price of EUR 79.90. A bulk version, named iHES112, without LightScribe, will also be available.
